In the ongoing game between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat, batting first, put 214/4 on the board, the highest total in the finals of an IPL season.
Sai Sudharsan and Wriddhiman Saha were the stars with the bat with their fifty-plus runs. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, who is the leading run-scorer in this season, scored 39(20), which included seven fours.
After the fine innings, which provided the perfect platform for Gujarat, Shubman also broke a few records. With eight fours, Shubman levelled Sachin Tendulkar’s for most fours smashed in an IPL season. Sachin held the record for 85 fours in the 2010 season, and Gill has now equalled the same. Overall, Gill and Sachin have the second-joint most fours in a single IPL edition, only behind David Warner.
Besides that, Gill equalled David Warner and Chris Gayle’s records for the most runs scored from boundaries in an IPL season. Gill has 538 runs this season from boundaries, only behind Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler. Here is the complete list.
- 602 – Jos Buttler (2022)
- 560 – Virat Kohli (2016)
- 538 – Shubman Gill (2023)
- 538 – Chris Gayle (2012)
- 538 – David Warner (2016)
