Shreyas Iyer
After a hiatus of nearly 5 months, Shreyas Iyer is gearing up for a comeback in the Asia Cup.

Former player Ian Chappell was not impressed with Shreyas Iyer’s technique on a rank-tuner against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The visitors won the third Test by 9 wickets in Indore on Friday (March 3). India were bowled out for 109 and 163.

Iyer failed to open his account in the first innings. He went after the spinners in the second innings and smashed Matthew Kuhnemann for two sixes. He also hit Nathan Lyon for as many boundaries.

Iyer was sent back to the dressing room by Mitchell Starc. Ian Chappell didn’t like Iyer’s batting style and said his options in taking on spinners might not work anywhere.

“Shreyas Iyer is not a good player of spin bowling. I think Shreyas Iyer is the sort of player who says well ‘I am going to get them before they get me’,” he said on ESPNcricinfo.a

“He can’t play Test cricket as this style can only work in white-ball formats,” he added.
