Sarfaraz Ahmed is the most famous and loved cricketer in Pakistan at the moment. He not only saved the hosts from an embarrassing defeat in the two-match Test series against New Zealand, but also scored a hundred and three fifties.
He was named the Man of the Series for his splendid display with the willow. Sarfaraz replaced Mohammad Rizwan in the squad after the latter failed to justify his place in the team.
Meanwhile, chief selector Shahid Afridi has already ruled out the possibility of including the 35-year-old in the ODIs or T20Is as Rizwan is one of the best batters in limited-overs cricket.
However, former Pakistan player Shoaib Malik has again demanded Sarfaraz’s selection in the ODI squad for the 2023 World Cup.
“Experience has no shortcut. @SarfarazA_54 has showed what he is capable of.. One of his best innings I have seen so far.. Also with the ODI World Cup in India this year, Safi can be the key for Pakistan,” he wrote on Twitter.
