Shashi Tharoor, the Member of the Parliament, has often spoken about Sanju Samson. He has been vocal about Samson’s being benched or left out of the Indian team regularly.
After Suryakumar Yadav’s flop show in the ODI series against Australia, Tharoor again demanded Sanju’s inclusion in the Men in Blue’s squad. SKY registered three golden ducks in the recently concluded series.
“Now that poor @surya_14kumar has set an unenviable world record w/his three golden ducks in a row, is it unreasonable to ask why @IamSanjuSamson , averaging 66 in ODIs despite batting at an unfamiliar position for him at 6, wasn’t in the squad? What does he need to do?” he wrote on Twitter.
Samson last played for India during the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in January at home. He injured his knee in the first game and was ruled out of the remaining two.
In 11 ODIs for India, he has scored 330 runs at an average of 66. On the other hand, Yadav has accumulated 433 runs in 23 ODIs at an average of 24.06.
Sanju will lead Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2023.
