Shaheen Afridi has been battling a knee injury since the Test series in Sri Lanka and is likely to miss the three-match ODI series in the Netherlands.
He has traveled to the European country along with other players but will remain under the watchful eyes of the medical staff.
Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria feels Afridi’s injury is good news for India, who were tormented by the fast bowler when the two teams met last time in the ICC T20 World Cup.
For the record, Shaheen dismissed Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul early in the innings while he came back to take the wicket of the then-India captain Virat Kohli in the death overs.
His spell didn’t allow India to settle down, and the Men in Green won the match by 10 wickets.
“Shaheen is in form but I told the consequences of playing him in all matches. He is in the Netherlands, but if the pacer doesn’t play a game over there, he will also miss the Asia Cup 2022, which will be good news for India but a bad one for Pakistan.”
