Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is all set to play his 100th Test match. Williamson will reach the landmark when he comes out to play in the second Test against Australia on March 8. Speaking ahead of the contest, Williamson talked about his Test debut, where he was up against Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.

Following their defeat against Australia in the first Test, New Zealand is looking to determine how to pull things back. Cameron Green and Nathan Lyon were the top performers against the Kiwis. The team’s focus is now on the second Test, as it will be Kane’s 100th game in this format of the game.

The right-handed batter made his debut against India in Ahmedabad back in 2010. “I remember walking out on the field and seeing my heroes Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid. It was a big day for me. I was the backyard cricketer and all those guys were in that team. I was wondering I was there in front of them,” Williamson said.

Williamson said that he wanted to speak to some of those greats. “It was an emotional day. I wanted to get into the Indian dressing room to speak to some of those players. A day hasn’t passed where I haven’t tried to improve as a player. I keep working on my game,” he added.

The 33-year-old has amassed 8675 runs in his 99 matches at an average of 55.25. He has hit 32 hundred and 33 fifties in this format.
