Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has said that Sanju Samson should have been a part of the Indian squad in place of KL Rahul as the latter has just returned from a long injury layoff and needs to get back to his best.
Rahul recently returned to the Indian team and led India in Zimbabwe. The 30-year-old has been included in the Asia Cup 2022 squad and is Rohit Sharma’s deputy.
Speaking to Cricketnext.com, as quoted by the Hindustan Times, Kaneria said that KL Rahul is coming back from an injury and is going early for the tournament.
The former Pakistan cricketer also said that India should have taken Samson to the UAE.
“KL Rahul is returning from an injury, and Sanju Samson has done well recently. He is a fantastic cricketer but was not given regular chances. Rahul Dravid knows about him and the talent he has.”
