Saba Karim believes that Suryakumar Yadav and Sam Curran are the front-runners to win the ICC T20I Player of the Year award.
Karim said that both of them deserve to win, with Curran could take the prize if the weightage is given to the performances of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
He, however, also said that if the jury members consider the whole year, Suryakumar will get the trophy.
“Sam Curran will give tough competition to Suryakumar Yadav. Curran was exceptional for England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Curran will bag the trophy if the jury members decide based on the World Cup. However, if the entire year is considered, SKY has a chance,” he said.
SKY finished the year with the most runs in the shortest format, with 1164 in 31 matches. He is also the number-ranked batter in the slam-bang version.
On the other hand, Curran was the Player of the Tournament of the global event. The youngster took 25 wickets and scored 67 runs in 19 T20Is in 2022.
