Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is an unstoppable force at the moment. The 25-year-old smashed another century in the ongoing Vijay Hazare season as he amassed 108(131) against Saurashtra in the finals.
The CSK star scored his 8th ton in the last ten innings. Gaikwad started slow. He scored his first fifty in 96 balls and amassed the next fifty in 29 deliveries.
With this century, Ruturaj brought up his 12th century in the tournament’s history, which is the most by any player. He surpassed former India opener Robin Uthappa for the landmark. Uthappa has smashed 11 centuries in Vijay Hazare Trophy, and his contribution helped Karnataka win their maiden title in the 2013-14 season.
Gaikwad has scored a hundred in every knockout match this season. He put up an unbeaten 220 (159) against UP in the quarter-finals. 168(126) against Assam in the semi-finals and 108)131 against Saurashtra in the finals.
Gaikwad has scored 1263 runs in the last ten innings and averages 180.42. In 71 List A innings, Gaikwad has 4034 runs with an average of 61.12 with 15 centuries.
Ruturaj is the only player to have a 60+ average in List A cricket history.
