Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two superstars of Indian cricket.

Rohan Gavaskar feels the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul need to follow the batting template Team India displayed under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant.

The hosts scored 211/4 in the first T20I against South Africa after being asked to bat first by the Proteas. Almost all the Indian batters played an aggressive brand of cricket from the first ball and didn’t take a lot of balls to get their eye in.

During an interaction on Sports 18, Rohan was asked if Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul will be required to follow the same approach once they return to the squad. He said, “I feel they need to and having said that, I think they can do it. When you talk about Virat and Rohit, you talk about two of the greatest players.”

The former Indian all-rounder pointed out that cricket has changed. “Cricket has changed. Earlier, 220 runs were enough in ODIs, and now you see 200 get chased down in T20 cricket. If you look at our current Indian squad, most of the batters have been playing the shortest format for the last five or six years.”
