Aakash Chopra said Rishabh Pant might pip KL Rahul to become India’s next Test captain. Rahul is currently Rohit Sharma’s deputy across all three formats .
“Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson are the options. Rishabh Pant may just pip Rahul to the post in Test cricket but don’t forget Rahul is a match-winner. But you haven’t understood the real DNA of their captaincy,” he said.
He lauded Pant for his aggressive moves but also questioned some of his decisions.
“Rishabh Pant is an aggressive captain in terms of the way he uses his bowlers. However, he has taken some ordinary decisions as well. Kuldeep picked up four wickets but didn’t bowl his four overs. It has happened many times. So it is a developing story.”
Chopra said that Pant, Rahul, Iyer and Samson are yet to develop their distinctive captaincy styles.
