Rishabh Pant has gained weight in the last few months. The wicket-keeper batter, who is leading India in the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa, has failed with the bat. The team management is trying to find the perfect eleven in the lead-up to the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Proteas bowlers have bowled wide outside the off-stump to tempt the 24-year-old for big shots and he has fallen in their trap.
While the focus remains on Pant’s captaincy and batting, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has questioned Rishabh’s fitness.
“I want to talk about his wicketkeeping.. He sits on his toes when a fast bowler is bowling. Pant is overweight and being bulky doesn’t give him that much time to come up quickly. Is he fit? When it comes to his captaincy, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik have supported him,” said Kaneria.
Danish lauded Karthik for his exceptional batting display in the fourth T20I in Rajkot.
Karthik smashed 9 fours and two sixes in his 55-run knock, while Hardik hit 46 off 31 balls.
