Former India fielding coach R Sridhar said Rishabh Pant was successful in Australia because he loves pace and bounce.
The 2020-21 tour of Australia was Pant’s bestt overseas tour as he played a key role in India’s sensational Test series win.
“We promoted Rishabh Pant after a discussion among Ajinkya Rahane, Ravi Shastri and Vikram Rathour. The wickets were flat and nice, and he went after the bowlers,” he said.
“He is a man born to perform in Australia as he loves pace, bounce and the challenge Australian wickets provide. It brought out the best in him,” he added.
He also spoke about India’s wicketkeeper’s gesture. “When we retired, he sent a beautiful little Parker pen to my room. He wrote, ‘all the best, sir’, and I still have the pen with me.”
