Rishabh Pant has been a failure as a batter and captain in the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa. His decisions have been slammed by former Indian cricketers. Be it giving just 2.1 overs to Yuzvendra Chahal in the first game or sending Axar Patel ahead of Dinesh Karthik in the next contest, nothing is going right for the 24-year-old. Even his batting has taken a hit in the home series.
Former Australia player Brad Hogg has urged Pant to lead from the front and take decisions, which can be beneficial.
Hogg also said that Pant can ring up MS Dhoni or talk to Rahul if he needs guidance.
“He needs to take control of the things. Rishabh Pant can ring up MS Dhoni or talk to Rahul for suggestions. He can achieve anything if he backs himself,” said Hogg.
India are without Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav.
“If a player starts losing games, his captaincy is always discussed in India. Rohit Sharma has a perfect track record but he hasn’t led the team outside the sub-continent country this year,” he added.
