India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was behind the meme fest after a video went viral on the internet of the 36-year-old off-spinner smelling jackets before the India vs Zimbabwe match.
The incident happened during the toss time between India and Zimbabwe last week. Rohit Sharma was speaking to Ian Bishop. Meanwhile, the camera focused on Ashwin, who was in the background smelling team jackets. The off-spinner was seen smelling two jackets, eventually throwing one.
His gesture started a meme fest on the internet, and even a few prominent figures joined the bandwagon and sought clarification from the RR star.
Ashwin’s good friend Abhinav Mukund also reacted to the video and tweeted, “Watched this video multiple times already. It just cracks me up again and again. @ashwinravi99. Please, enlighten us with your logic for picking the right sweater.”
Ashwin finally reacted to the video and said that he was looking for his jacket but could not differentiate between the two jackets.
He tweeted, “Checked for the sizes to differentiate! Checked if it was initialled. Finally checked for the perfume I use. Adei cameraman.”
Ashwin picked up three wickets in the match and has been given the nod ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal in the tournament.
