Aakash Chopra has spoken against Ravi Shastri’s suggestion that six top teams should play Test cricket.

Shastri recently said that quality should be preferred over quantity for the game’s longest format to keep thriving.

According to him, there is no need to allow 10 or 12 teams to compete in the Test matches.

Meanwhile, Chopra was not in favour of Shastri’s suggestion.

“Test cricket can happen in tiers, but if only the top six nations play the format, it will put world cricket in trouble, including Test cricket, which all of us are saying is the best format and will not die.”

“Who will decide the top six countries? If we take rankings into account, what will others do? Shastri said that teams from below will come up if you go out of the six. But who will come up when only six nations are allowed to play the format.”
