After almost two days of continuous bowling, India finally managed to end Australia‘s first innings in the ongoing fourth Test match, as the visitors put 480 on the board after 167.2 overs.
Ravichandran Ashwin was the star with the ball for India, as the 36-year-old took another five-wicket haul and picked up six wickets for 91 runs in 47.2 overs. The 36-year-old off-spinner took his 32nd five-wicket haul in Test cricket and broke two major records held by Anil Kumble.
Out of the 32 five-wicket hauls, 26 have come in India for Ashwin, which is the most by any Indian bowler. The off-spinner surpassed Kumble’s record of 25 fifers in India. Overall, Ashwin moved to 2nd on the list of most five-wicket hauls at home. The RR star levelled with Sri Lanka star Rangana Herath and is only behind Muttiah Muralitharan, who has 45 fifers to his name.

Also, with six wickets in the first innings, Ashwin became the joint-highest wicket-taker in Border Gavaskar Trophy, levelling with Nathan Lyon with 113 wickets. Ashwin surpassed Kumble’s tally of 111 wickets, becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in BGT.
