Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar said that the national coach, Rahul Dravid, doesn’t deserve criticism when the Men in Blue perform badly.
He opined that the role of a coach is different in cricket than in football. Sanjay said the chief selector has more power than Dravid.
“Fans alsways compare cricket coach with a football coach., The cricket coach doesn’t have much power. Even when the team was picked, Dravid was not there. When a team wins or loses, the contribution of a coach is marginal. Rohit and other senior players are experienced so it is a combine effort. I believe chief selector is more powerful than the coach,” he said.
Ajit Agarkar is the head of the selection committee at the moment. Meanwhile, Dravcid has been slammed for India’s performance in international cricket.
