Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were not included in the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against New Zealand. They have been dropped from the shortest format since India’s semi-final exit in the ICC T20 World Cup.

According to reports, the BCCI and the selection committee have decided to go ahead with young players.

However, Rahul Dravid, who is the head coach has refuted all such claims. Dravid said Virat and Rohit have been rested and not dropped.

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested in T20I series against New Zealand because We want they will fresh before important Border Gavaskar Trophy,” he said.

The two are currently playing in the ongoing three-match ODI series against the Black Caps. The home team is leading 2-0. While the opening game went to the last over, Rohit Sharma’s team won the second contest by 8 wickets.
