Former England captain Michael Vaughan has claimed that Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma will not drop Virat Kohli despite his poor form with the bat. Virat hasn’t scored a century since 2019 and the performance of Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav has put pressure on Virat Kohli.
In the second T20I against England, he scored just 1 run. Vaughan feels Kohli may not be dropped by the management. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Vaughan said, Kohli needs to score runs and Dravid and Sharma will not be considering dropping the 33-year-old.
However, Vaughan said any player shouldn’t be selected for his past performances. “I am sure Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma will not drop Kohli. He needs to score runs and you can’t keep selecting a player for his past performances,” he said.
Vaughan further said that missing a a T20I series against West Indies would be the best thing to happen to Kohli as he needs a break from the game.
“He needs a break from cricket. I am saying this for a long time. If he misses the upcoming T20I series against West Indies, it would be the best thing to happen to him.”
