Australian great Ricky Ponting feels Ishan Kishan can play Rishabh Pant’s role in the World Test Championship final against Australia. He is a little surprised that Suryakumar Yadav is not part of the main squad for the WTC final next month.
For a couple of years, Pant was India’s top performer in red-ball cricket. He is currently recovering from the injuries sustained in a fatal car accident.
SKY made his Test debut against Australia but failed to perform with the bat, leading to his exclusion from the squad. He is one of the standby players for the mega-final in England.
“Ishan Kishan is another X factor in the team. He can play Rishabh Pant’s role in the final against Australia. India should play adventurous cricket to win the game,” he said.
Ponting believes Australia have a slight advantage over India going into the game.
