UMESH YADAV

Former India selector Sarandeep Singh has expressed his preference for Umesh Yadav as India’s third seamer for the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia.

Singh believes that Yadav’s extra pace would be advantageous for the team alongside Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj. While Shardul Thakur is also a contender for the position, Singh favors Yadav due to his ability to generate reverse swing on the Oval track.

Singh acknowledges the challenges posed by the conditions in England, emphasizing the need for the team to adapt quickly.

He believes that India’s players are capable of adjusting to the shifting weather and transitioning from T20 mode to Test cricket.

Singh also expressed his faith in Shubman Gill, despite the batsman’s limited experience in England. Gill, who recently won the Orange Cap in the IPL, has been in outstanding form and is expected to make a significant impact in the one-off WTC final against Australia.
