Pakistan boycott ODI series in Sri Lanka
Najam Sethi, the head of PCB, wanted to organize four matches of the Asia Cup in his country, but the Lanka board rejected the proposal.

Pakistan have decided to boycott the ODI series in Sri Lanka after SLC sided with the BCCI for the Asia Cup 2023. The Island nation wants to host the continental cup, which didn’t go well with PCB, who turned down Sri Lanka’s offer for 50-over matches.

According to PTI, Najam Sethi, the head of PCB, wanted to organize four matches of the Asia Cup in his country, but the Lankan board rejected the proposal. The stance has deteriorated the relationship between the two cricket boards.

‘The bond has taken a big hit after Sri Lanka’s stance. PCB has said no to the proposed ODI series in Sri Lanka,” PCB source stated to PTI.

Pakistan are scheduled to play two Test matches in Sri Lanka as a part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle. Sri Lanka wanted to add a couple of ODIs to the visit. Pakistan were ready for the games.

“PCB is not happy with the Sri Lanka board for being willing to organise Asia Cup,” the source added.

PCB Chairman Sethi is also dissatisfied with Bangladesh and Afghanistan’s response to the Asia Cup issue.
