Team India has won the T20I series against the West Indies. The management opened with Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma in the four matches, while went ahead with Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for the fifth and final game.

Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid have experimented a lot with the opening pair in the last few months. In KL Rahul’s absence, Rishabh Pant played as an opener against England in the shortest format of the game.

Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yuzvendra Chahal were rested for the series against the Nicholas Pooran-led team. The trio is expected to make a return to the squad in the Asia Cup.

Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel had earlier said that there is a possibility of Kohli opening the innings in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 and repeated the claim once again.

“I am not in favour of Rishabh Pant. I think Virat Kohli will open in the Asia Cup 2022. I just feel he will,” said Patel.

The 33-year-old last opened for in 2021 during a T20I against England, and has played 8 matches as the opening batter in the slam-bang version.
