India have tried Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav as openers in recent matches. While Pant opened in England, SKY is doing the same job in the ongoing matches in West Indies.

Keeping the T20 World Cup 2022 in focus, former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta has suggested a surprise name as a third-choice opener, after KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.

Rahul and Rohit are the main openers in T20Is. Since Rahul is unavailable, Pant and Surya have opened the innings. But Dasgupta feels the selectors should try Prithvi Shaw.

“KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma would be my first choice openers for the ICC T20 World Cup. As a third opener, Prithvi Shaw should be looked at as he has done well in the role. He doesn’t score the 70s, 80s, or hundreds, but he can give you a blistering start,” he said.

Dasgupta also spoke about Ishan Kishan. “He has lost his mojo a bit now in the last few games,” he said.

He feels India can play three potential wicket-keepers in the same XI at the T20 World Cup 2022.
