Virat Kohli recalled his match-winning 82 against Pakistan in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Riding on his knock, India won the game by four wickets in Melbourne on October 23.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram and wrote, “October 23rd 2022 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energy like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was.”

The former India captain finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer with 296 runs. He and Hardik Pandya took India’s opening match against Pakistan deep and scored 16 runs off the final over to register their first win in the global event.

After the match, Kohli told Star Sports: “It was not easy as the situation was very challenging for us. I thought of staying till the end. Hardik was pushing me and then I hit the boundaries. I told Hardik that if we attack Haris Rauf then Pakistan will panic. When 28 runs were required off 8 balls, I was backing myslef to hit two sixes otherwise we will lose the game,” he said.

India were eliminated after losing to England by 10 wickets in the semi-final.
