India opener Murali Vijay is returning to cricket after two years. The player, who was last seen in the Indian Premier League during the UAE season in 2020, took a break for his family.

He is expected to play for Ruby Trichy Warriors against Dindigul Dragons on Friday, 24 June.

Speaking to IANS, Vijay said he needed time to reflect on his life.”The two-year break helped me to reflect on my life. I have a young family and wanted to take care of them. So I am coming back to enjoy cricket without setting any target. I hope I can do something for my team and TNPL,” he said.

Vijay stated that he was in a tough position due to personal reasons.

“I wanted to play, but I had injuries, and my personal life was going at a fast pace. So I wanted to slow down things. TNCA has understood that, and they’ve given me this platform to come back and play the game.”
