MS Dhoni wanted to bat first vs MI IPL 2023
He revealed about it in the post-match presentation ceremony. However, he was outnumbered.

Chennai Super Kings registered their season’s fourth win after an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 21.

SRH, batting first, failed to read spin and put 134/7 on the board after 20 overs. MS Dhoni, for the 2nd consecutive game, was brilliant behind the wickets, as the 41-year-old produced three dismissals in the match against SRH.

The CSK skipper took a catch and produced a run-out & stumping. With three dismissals in the match, MS Dhoni scripted several records.

After the catch, MS surpassed South Africa’s Quinton de Kock’s feat of most T20 catches by a wicket-keeper. Before the game, MS and de Kock jointly held the record with 207 catches, but MSD is now the sole holder of the feat.

Here is the complete list of wicket-keepers with the most T20 catches.

  • 208 – MS Dhoni
  • 207 – Quinton de Kock
  • 205 – Dinesh Karthik
  • 172 – Kamran Akmal
  • 150 – Denesh Ramdin

Out of the 208 catches, MS took 57 catches playing for India, 140 in IPL and the rest in other T20 games.

Besides this feat, captain cool also became the first player in the history of the IPL to complete 200 dismissals. (Catches+ Stumping+Run-out)
