Riding on opener Mohammad Rizwan’s 71 off 51 balls, Pakistan registered their highest successful T20I run chase against India as they scored 182 in 19.5 overs.
The celebrations were cut short as their star batter, Rizwan, was taken to the hospital after the match for scans on the knee injury he sustained while keeping.
Notably, Rizwan, in an attempt to grab a poorly executed bouncer, landed badly on his right leg and injured his knee. He was in extreme pain, and the match was halted for 5-7 minutes.
The 30-year-old received treatment by the physios on the field and was good to go. He kept wickets during the whole game and looked perfectly fine while batting.
However, after the match, he was taken to the hospital for precautionary scans. He will undergo MRI scans to understand the extent of the injury.
The Men in Green are already without Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim, and Shahnawaz Dahani, who were ruled out due to injuries. However, Dahani will return for the next match.
Notably, Rizwan is a brave heart, as two days before the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-finals, he was in ICU battling a chest infection. He came out to bat on matchday and struck 67 against Australia.
