Moeen Ali has come out of Test retirement to play in the Ashes 2023. Moeen quit Test cricket almost two years ago but has agreed to play against Australia after an injury to Jack Leach.
The 35-year-old has been added to the squad for the first Tests and looks certain to play in the opening game at Edgbaston from Friday, June 16
“We spoke to him, and he agreed,” said Rob Key, managing director of England men’s cricket.
“He will join the squad in a couple of days. His experience will benefit our Ashes campaign,” he added. In 64 Tests, he has scored 2900 runs and taken 195 wickets.
