Reacting to India's decision to rest the all-rounder, former India player Gautam Gambhir said it was a good call.

Hardik Pandya is ready to lead India in white-ball cricket. Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris said that Hardik is capable of leading the Men in Blue in T20Is.

“May be not in the Asia Cup 2022 but we would see Hardik as a captain of T20 team in the future,” Styris said in News 18’s show ‘Sports Over the Top.

The 28-year-old has already led India in three games with all the results going in the sub-continent team’s favour.

After the final T20I against West Indies, Hardik said it was a “very special feeling” to captain India. “I am ready to captain India. But for now, I am only thinking about the ICC T20 World Cup,” he had said.

Styris said that Hardik can take Indian cricket forward. “We were not thinking about it six months ago. However, Hardik was sensational as a captain in the Indian Premier League. He led Gujarat Titans to title. Hardik has shown his class in international cricket as well. He has the personality to captain the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game.”
