Team India captain Rohit Sharma was mighty pleased with magician Shardul Thakur after his three-wicket spell in the final ODI against New Zealand.

Shardul took three wickets in 10 balls to bring the hosts back into the game after Devon Conway hit a magnificent century.

The Black Caps were 184/2 but Thakur’s spell reduced them to 200/5 and they couldn’t recover. The visitors were bowled out for 295, losing the game by 90 runs.

“I don’t think any total is safe on a ground like this. We bowled well and held our nerves. Shardul has been making inroads for us for a long time and we call him magician in the squad and he once again delivered,” said Rohit Sharma.

Prior to his bowling, he also scored 25 runs off 17 balls and stitched a crucial 54-run partnership with Hardik Pandya to help India post 385/9.
