Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul scripted history against Punjab Kings on Saturday, April 15, as the 30-year-old became the fastest batter in IPL to complete 4000 runs in terms of innings.

Rahul achieved the feat in 105 innings and broke Chris Gayle’s record of 4000 IPL runs in 112 innings. Against Punjab, Rahul amassed 74(56), which included eight fours and a solitary six.

Rahul, who made his IPL debut in 2013, has played 114 matches. The right-hand batter has 4,044 runs, which includes four hundred and 32 fifty-plus scores.

After his knock, Rahul, who scored his first fifty of the season, scripted a plethora of milestones as he also became the second-fastest to score 2000 runs as captain in IPL. After the end of the first innings, LSG put 159/8 on the board.

Before the innings, Rahul was under the scanner for a dismal run in the first four games. Notably, Rahul is the 2nd fastest batter to 3000 IPL runs behind Chris Gayle.
