England white-ball captain Jos Buttler is excited to have Jofra Archer back. The wicket-keeper batter confirmed Jofra’s place in the playing XI for the first ODI against South Africa.
He will wear the England jersey for the first time in two years. The 27-year-old returned to competitive cricket with the inaugural edition of SA20 for MI Cape Town. He is their highest wicket-taker with eight wickets in seven games at 18.
Archer last played for England in March 2021. Speaking ahead of the first ODI against the Proteas, Buttler said Jofra’s return will boost England’s chances.
“It is good to have him back in the squad. He is an exciting guy. Jofra is coming back after a long time and the first game will be his first international contest after a long time,” he said.
“He would take time to get back to his best. It’s just fantastic to see him fit, back playing again. We know he is going to get better and better with every match,” he added.
