Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has shared his perspective on Pakistan’s elimination from the Asia Cup 2023. Pathan expressed his belief that competing against Sri Lanka in the final will prove to be advantageous for Team India.
Sri Lanka secured their spot in the finals with victory over Pakistan during the last ball drama at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium on Thursday.
Discussing the upcoming final between India and the defending champions, Sri Lanka, Pathan shared his view.
“Playing finals against Sri Lanka will be better for Team India as it won’t be a one-sided affair,” he wrote on X.
Notably, India showcased a dominant performance against Pakistan in their Super 4’s encounter. The Men in Blue amassed an impressive total of 356 runs, courtesy of outstanding centuries by Virat Kohli (122*) and KL Rahul (111*).
In contrast, the Pakistani batting lineup struggled to put up a strong fight, succumbing to a mere 128 runs on the reserve day. Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the standout bowler, clinching a five-wicket haul.
India secured a commanding 228-run victory, marking their most significant margin of victory against Pakistan in ODIs.
