Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has said that Hardik Pandya should bowl in the ODIs leading upto the 2023 World Cup on home soil in October and November 2023. The 29-year-old last played in an ODI contest during the tour of England in 2022.

During the ODI World Cup in England, he bowled his quota of overs in ODIs in 2019. Injury and workload management have made him a sixth-choice option rather than a frontline fast bowler.

Hardik recently bowled with a new ball in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.

“The question mark has always been on his bowling. In cases when there are two main pacers, and if Pandya is the third seamer, then how many overs he can bowl is a huge question,” he said.

“Going forward, since this is a World Cup year, it is critical that Hardik Pandya bowls seven to eight overs in a contest,” he added.
