Indian seamer Harshal Patel is set to miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 and is doubtful for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. According to Cricbuzz. Harshal’s side strain will likely keep him out of the Asia Cup squad, which will be announced on August 8th.
The 31-year-old is in the United States for the final two matches of the five-game T20 series against the Nicholas Pooran-led team. He hasn’t featured in the first four matches and will be missing the last one as well.
With the side strain needing four to six weeks of rehab, Patel could miss the global event in Australia. His chances depend on his fast recovery. After returning from the US, he will join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
His injury could open doors for Deepak Chahar, who has just recovered from an injury and will travel to Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will return for Asia Cup in the UAE.
