Muralitharan, who is the all-time leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, said that these three teams have the strongest squads and are the most likely to go deep into the tournament.

In a recent interview with India Today, legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, ahead of the release of “800,” shared his excitement. He picked his favourites for the ICC World Cup 2023 and shared insights into the conditions in the subcontinent.

Muralitharan’s biopic “800” will be released on October 6. He expressed happiness and anticipation, emphasizing that it blends not only his cricket career but also 20 percent cricket and 80 percent a human story. The movie narrates the challenges he faced and overcame.

When asked about the filming process and whether it made him nostalgic, Muralitharan revealed that he thoroughly reviewed the screenplay to ensure it portrayed nothing but the truth, devoid of any masala. He wanted his biopic to be an authentic and genuine representation of his life.

Regarding the actor Madhur Mittal playing his role, Muralitharan praised his performance. He stated that Mittal captured about 70 percent of his look and bowling action.

Reflecting on the uniqueness of his biopic, Muralitharan humbly stated that while it may not be more special than those of Dhoni or Sachin, he hopes that everyone will enjoy his story.

Switching to cricket, Muralitharan shared his top four picks for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He named India, England, and Australia, and left the fourth spot open for any team. He emphasized that luck plays a significant role in cricket.

When questioned about the potential advantage for subcontinent teams in the upcoming World Cup, Muralitharan affirmed that teams from the subcontinent would indeed have an edge due to the spin-friendly wickets and the familiarity of their batters with playing spin.
