Australia handed India a 21-run defeat in the 3rd and final match to seal the series 2-1. The loss is a big setback to the Men in Blue, considering the World Cup is less than seven months away.
It has been ten years since India last won an ICC trophy, and the pressure to win one would be at an all-time high in October since the premier fifty-over tournament would be held entirely in India.
After the humiliating loss, several experts criticized the management for being confused over their preferred playing XI and bashed the players for throwing their wickets away. Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan also joined the bandwagon and made a big statement on India’s chances of winning the ODI World Cup.
Vaughan bashed the Indian side and said they are underachieving in white-ball cricket and are far away from winning the upcoming World Cup.
“India are a team under achieving so much in White ball cricket. They have so much talent & depth .. 6 months away from a home World Cup & along way off from winning it at the moment.”
The players will shift their focus to the domestic league, as the IPL begins from March 31.
