Pat Cummins has decided to return to the Indian Premier League in 2024. The veteran will be giving his name for the auction to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024.

Cummins pulled out of his lucrative million IPL contract with Kolkata Knight Riders earlier this year, citing a packed international schedule.

“I haven’t played a lot of T20 cricket and my best is yet to come in this format,” he told Cricket.com.au.

“I’m really excited to go into the IPL auction for next year to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup. I want to be a part of the side,” he added.

Mitchell Marsh is the front-runner to lead Australia in the global tournament, scheduled to take place in West Indies and USA.

“I just want to play and I am not sure about captaincy as Marsh did a fantastic job in South Africa,” Pat said of the T20 World Cup.

He is currently leading Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023. The five-time champions will clash with South Africa in the second semi-final at the Eden Gardens on November 16.
