ICC on Wednesday released the latest ODI rankings. India whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0. Thus, it’s fair to assume that the rankings would improve for most Indian players. However, that’s not the case except for Shubman Gill.
The 22-year-old scored his maiden ton in the 3rd and final ODI against Zimbabwe and won the player of the series award. He jumped 45 places to achieve his career-best ranking of 38.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who were not a part of the squad, remained static in their positions. Virat sits at 5th while Rohit is at 6th.
Interestingly, no batter within the top 10 moved their places. Shikhar Dhawan, who was earlier placed at 11th, dropped a spot to 12th.
Stand-in skipper KL Rahul, who marked his return to the national side, had a forgettable tour as a batsman. He dropped a spot to rank 35th.
In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah remained seated at 4th position, while Yuzvendra Chahal, who was not a part of the Zimbabwe tour, dropped two ranks to sit 19th on the table.
However, his partner Kuldeep Yadav jumped four places to go from 39 to 35th position.
