Azam Khan playing for Pakistan
Aaqib Javed slammed Azam Khan for being overweight

Former Pakistan medium pacer Aaqib Javed, who guided Lahore Qalandars to their 2nd straight PSL win, launched a brutal attack on Moin Khan’s son Azam Khan over his fitness level after the 24-year-old, registered a flop show in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

Azam, who made his Pakistan debut in 2021, had a brilliant PSL this year and was his side’s 2nd leading run-scorer, which earned him a spot in the squad for the Afghanistan series. However, Khan scored a duck in the first match and got out on a single run before being dropped for the final game of the series.

Reacting to Azam’s flop show, Aaqib Javed slammed the player for being overweight and also questioned the PCB over the standard of fitness levels needed to represent Pakistan.

“If I was in the same squad with a player of his fitness level, I would have refused to play with that team. A player needs to maintain a certain level of fitness to represent Pakistan.”

“I did not understand this experiment by PCB. The selectors paid no attention to fitness levels while choosing the squad. I hope the PCB sets a few standard of fitness levels needed to represent Pakistan.”
