The Asia Cup 2022 gets underway today, and the most awaited tie between India and Pakistan will be tomorrow in Dubai.
In the past few days, both teams have shown glimpses of friendship and respect for each other. In the latest instance of mutual respect, Babar Azam’s deputy, Shadab Khan, has heaped praise on Virat Kohli.
The 23-year-old was asked about Virat Kohli and his fading dominance in world cricket.
A few days back, former Indian cricketer turned analyst Aakash Chopra had stated that Virat is full of class and skills, but his dominance is fading, and the former skipper doesn’t instill the same fear in the bowlers that he used to do in his prime.
One reporter picked up on that and asked Shadab about his opinion on Kohli’s dominance in world cricket.
“Those who believe Virat’s presence doesn’t scare the bowlers don’t play anymore. He is a legend of the game, and even today, everyone gets a bit scared when he enters the pitch.”
Recently, Virat Kohli crossed 1000 days mark without scoring a century. Speaking of which, Shadab added that he wants Kohli to break the 1000+ days drought but just not against Pakistan.
“Kohli has set standards that people only expect a hundred from him. Otherwise, he is performing well even now. I wish he scores a century soon in this tournament, but not against us.”
