He took a dig at the former England players after 17 wickets fell on the opening day of the ongoing first Test between England and New Zealand.

Former India player Wasim Jaffer has become the king of social media for his hilarious take on different matters related to cricket. He took a dig at the former England players after 17 wickets fell on the opening day of the ongoing first Test between England and New Zealand at Lord’s. While the visitors scored just 132, the Ben Stokes-led team accumulated 116/7 at the end of the day’s play.

England’s cricket experts lauded the bowlers for their clinical display, which didn’t go down well with Jaffer as the same experts had criticized Ahmedabad’s pitch when 17 wickets had fallen in two sessions in a Test between India and England in 2021.

Michael Vaughan, David Lloyd, Ian Bell, and Nasser Hussain had questioned the quality of the track. Taking on them, Jaffer wrote – “When 17 wkts fall in a day at Lord’s, talk is about skills of the bowlers. When 17 wkts fall in a day at Ahmedabad, talk is about conditions. #ENGvNZ.”

For the record, India won the Test by 10 wickets. Batting first, England scored 112 runs in the first innings. The home team was dismissed on a score of 145. The visitors managed just 81 in the second chance, with India chasing down the required 49 without losing a wicket. Axar Patel was named the Man of the Match for taking 11 wickets in the contest.
