The decision to open with Suryakumar Yadav in the first two matches against West Indies hasn’t gone down well with the former India players. They have lambasted captain Rohit Sharma for making this move ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
Ravi Shastri has reacted strongly against the call, saying India should have tried someone else as SKY is needed in the middle-order.
“SKY will play the T20 World Cup in Australia but bat him in the number he will bat in the global event. Suryakumar is in the form of his life so don’t tinker around,” he said.
“If you want him to bat in different circumstances, let him come out after the fall of two early wickets. India need him in form for the World Cup,” he added.
