Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has praised Kuldeep Yadav for his consistency despite getting dropped every now and then. The 28-year-old will represent the Men in Blue in a three-match T20I series against New Zealand.
He played ODIs against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Kuldeep took 11 wickets and played a key role in India’s win.
Jaffer named Kuldeep and Washington Sundar as his two spinners for the first game with the Black Caps.
“It happens with wrist spinners. If their form is good, they take wickets. Yadav proved himself in the last two series,” he told ESPNcricinfo.
“Axar Patel’s absence has given him regular chances. He plays a match, gets dropped, returns, performs, and gets axed again. So, it is not easy for him,” he added.
However, Jaffer is backing Kuldeep for the upcoming series against the Kiwis.
“He has been consistent and I won’t be surprised if he performs against New Zealand.”
