Kolkata Knight Riders struggled to find consistency in IPL 2022. They played with different combinations, which impacted their performances. Sheldon Jackson was in the Playing XI of the two-time champions.

The 35-year-old represented KKR in 5 matches this season. However, he waited for five years to get this opportunity. Before the recently concluded edition, the last time he played in IPL was in 2017, when Gautam Gambhir was the captain of KKR.

In his conversation with Sportskeeda, he revealed why he idolises Gautam Gambhir and also credited him for his success. He lauded the former Indian batter for believing in him.

“Gautam Gambhir made me who I am today. He backed me when I was not renowned. He is my idol.”

Apart from his former captain, he also heaped praise on Harbhajan Singh for grooming him for IPL 2021. “He mentored me during his association with Kolkata Knight Riders . When I was not scoring runs and was low on confidence, I spoke to him.”
