Chennai Super Kings are having a dream run in this edition, as the four-time winners are 2nd on the ladder with 15 points in 12 games. Several players have contributed to CSK’s success, but skipper MS Dhoni has stolen the limelight in each match, either with the bat or his leadership skills.
The 41-year-old, potentially playing his last IPL season, has not missed a single game this year despite nursing a knee injury, which has impressed the critics and the fans.
Dhoni’s dedication, calmness, and ability to make the right decisions under pressure are a few traits every player or skipper would look to inculcate. In the latest development, former England spinner Graeme Swann, who is a part of IPL’s commentary panel, has named the IPL skipper that resembles MS Dhoni.
Swann spoke highly about Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson and remarked that he resembles MS Dhoni. Explaining his comparison, the 44-year-old stated, “What I love about Sanju is that he has emerged as a leader in the last 5-6 years. I have been covering IPL for a long time, and have seen him become a consistent senior player.”
“Earlier, he did nothing for 6-7 games and then played a good knock, but now he is Mr Dependable for RR. Also, he is very calm. He is like a young MS Dhoni. He doesn’t lose his calm as a skipper when things do not go his way.”
