India bowled out Australia for 188 in the first ODI at the Wankhede Stadium on March 17. Stand-in captain Hardik Pandya won the toss, and there was no looking back for the Indian bowlers.

Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj took three wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja dismissed two batters. Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya added one scalp each to their bowling figures.

For Australia, Mitchell Marsh scored 81 off 65 balls with the help of 10 fours and 5 sixes.

Meanwhile, former India players Sanjay Manjrekar and Sunil Gavaskar lauded Hardik for his brilliant captaincy. They called him a daring captain for keeping a slip in the middle overs of the innings.

“Hardik is a daring captain as he kept the slipt despite batters going for the shots in the middle-overs,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

“Hardik was perfect with his field placings, and it was one of India’s best performances on home pitches,’ said Sanjay Manjrekar.

Regular captain Rohit Sharma is unavailable due to a family function and will return for the second game.
