Aakash Chopra has lauded Hardik Pandya for using the sixth bowler in the T20I series against New Zealand.
The Men in Blue won the series by a margin of 1-0, as the first game was called off due to rain, while the third one ended in a tie after considering the DLS method.
Earlier, India had won the second game by 65 runs. “I liked Hardik Pandya’s captaincy as he used Deepak Hooda, which Rohit Sharma did not do. Rohit didn’t bowl Venkatesh Iyer, well. Rohit doesn’t use the sixth bowler for India, while the case is different for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League,” he said.
Chopra pointed out that Hardik was keen to use Hooda, unlike Rohit.
“Hardik doesn’t bowl himself but used Hooda. He can bowl him at the death and in the powerplay overs. Also, he can bowl in the middle overs.”
Hooda took 4 wickets in the second T20I versus the Kane Williamson-led team.
